This product works well. I bought both the right and the left crown stops and it does make crown work faster. I have been an old school guy who learned to cut crown laying flat on the saw table. The past few years I have been cutting crown standing up with out stops. It still takes a good eye( or a tape measure) to set the stops.
The stops are much easier than doing it by eye, They don’t work well on pieces much shorter than 12 inches but if you draw a pencil line or tape a line on the saw table between the stops you can still get good results.
Only down side is they are a little expensive.

Sub-fence really great for working with crown moulding. Couldn’t really do the job safely without it. Don’t know why it doesn’t come standard with the saw.

The item was delivered quickly and all are as expected. Smooth transaction. Happy with the purchase.

The right side fence on the C10FSH or FSB is rather inadequate. To me, the RIGHT SIDE SUB-FENCE is a greatly appreciated add-on. It tightened up flush to the fence, (which was a worry of mine seeing as they’re an after market product.) Two things would make this sub fence better if Hitachi is listening.
1. Cut the left side so you can leave it on when beveling sharp angles from the right,…as of right now, the sub-fence needs to be removed in order to make a hard bevel cut from the right, (just as the left side needs to be swiveled, maybe the right could as well)
2. Make it come standard with the saw. I mean come on. All other saws in its class, (and there aren’t many), come with decent and thoughtful fences. Generally I wind up taking them off to make a shooting board of sorts to hold my material anyway if the cuts really count, but Hitachi should not depend on us to “make the saw work” for us. For this much money,… they should hand deliver it engraved with our names, inlayed in gold, and spit shined. word.

This is a must have if you have the C10FSH. Really makes the fence the right height.

Does it work? Yes. Does it work well? Yes. Does it install in and out easily? Yes. Should it have come w/the saw? YES. I paid just over $400 for the saw - which is quite good, but the reason you pay $400 for a saw is so you don’t have to buy all of the $20, 30 and 40 dollar attachments for them. Again, very good saw, very good fence, a little tacky on the marketing of such a pricey saw.

This saw cuts absolutely great, which is the most important thing. Alignment was perfect out of the box, travel is smooth, and there is very little play in the blade arbor, slide, or the pivot. For anyone who is thinking about a higher end vs a lower end saw, the belt drives on the higher end ones make a huge difference in smoothness over the direct drive in most of the lower end saws. Laser is fine for rough work, but I mostly ignore it. I use it regularly for cabinetry and trim work, and it makes very near perfect cuts, about as good as my high end tablesaw and a lot quicker. Good power, it has no trouble with 4×8 lumber or 2″ thick oak.
The only major thing I don’t like, and I really don’t like it, is the vertical handle. It is difficult to grab up top unless I am well above the saw, and fairly difficult to hold as I make the cut. My bench is just above waist level, and this places the saw too high to use easily. Horizontal handles are much easier to use, and I am now wishing that I had gone for the Bosch because of it. Another minor improvement would be in the back fence, the left side has a flip out upper portion that makes the fence quite high on that side, the right side does not have this and is very low, too low to do crown molding. If the fence were symmetrical, it would help.

Hitachi C10FSH 10-Inch Sliding Compound Miter Saw with Laser
This miter saw is probably way beyond my needs since I am not a contractor, but it is a superb tool. The laser light makes cutting precise angles a breeze. I attached the saw to a 3/4″ plywood table top and then fastened the plywood to a ryobi miter saw stand. The saw accurately cuts through 2×4’s as easily as it cuts moulding.

This is probably the best 10″ miter saw ever made , will last a lifetime if taken care of yet can also take the abuse yet cuts are always lazer clean.
I’ve had mine for almost 15 years and use it constantly…what more can I say . The reference standard miter saw In my Opinion

I am retired but I do work around the home and this saw works great. Dead on accuracy just out of the box and not any problems at all. Easy to set up and easier to use. Wish I had bought this one before I bought the $1.98 rag that I wasted my first purchase on.

I opened up the box and set it up on the table, let out a big grown put it back in the box and sent it right back. I don’t know who would rate this thing above 1 star unless they don’t use it. I need a saw for 4 to 6 hours a day so I bought a Milwaukee 12″. Spend $150.00 more and get a tool not a toy.

For the most part they work well except on short pieces. While not heavy duty, they get the job done. If you plan to buy the supports, also order the Hitachi 321387 Sub-fence. The price is the biggest problem, but time is money.

The crown molding vice and stoppers from Hitachi are a “Don’t Bother”. They are flimsy and small only about 2 inches of support to hold the crown molding in place. It’s extemly hard to make 2 cuts the same. If you want to cut your crown molding standing up there are better options.

This has been the only thing that has disappointed me about my C10SFH. I was hoping that it would help keep long pieces of crown in alignment for cuts on the ends of boards when you have a more than half of the piece hanging off of the saw stand. I have found that it holds the piece close but I still need to fine tune the alignment with pressure from my hand. I works well for cuts in the middle of the board where the board is against both crown stops.
I think there still may be some circumstances that it might be useful, but so far it has just gotten in the way. I have only used it on 45/45 crown. I haven’t tried it on 38/52 crown yet. If I find a instance that it works well I will update my review and let you know.
I think crown stops and a good support stand would be a much better investment.

Excellent addition to the 10″ saw for holding down pieces that aren’t quite straight so they can be cut straight.
