I bought this Hitachi miter saw when it was a Deal of the Day item not too long ago. The price was $99, and there was a $20 cash rebate, so this was a great deal (albeit, I haven’t even submitted my rebate yet).
Don’t rush out to buy saw. Watch the price, it moves up and down pretty frequently. I’ve seen the price move from $99 (not deal of the day) up to $139, so, a little patience goes a long way.
If you can get a good price on this saw, its a better deal to get an Irwin Laser Guide attachment then the Hitachi C10FCH2 (same saw, but w/ built in laser guide).
Anyways, back to the saw.
Pros:
- Its got a great motor with plenty of power to spare.
- Comes practically fully installed, nothing to mess with
- Includes a Ferrite core on the power cord to condition the power for more constant, stable current
- Comfortable handle and easy pull down motion
- Smooth adjustment for bevel and miter cuts
- Pretty good blade (at least while it is still moderately new)
- Not too loud
Cons: (All due to this being an entry level miter saw)
- No electric brake… it takes the blade a little while to come to a stop
- Does not include extension arms/wings for stabilizing longer pieces of wood
Neutral:
- Dust collection bag catches some debris, but most of it ends up on the floor surrounding the saw
- Dust collection port can sometimes clog with shavings, depending on what kind of wood you are cutting
Overall, I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND this miter saw.

I got the saw almost a year ago and have been very happy with my purchase. I have bought alot of other Hitachi tools and love them alot. This is a great jobsite saw.. light and quick. If i could buy it again i would.. except maybe i would buy the 12″ saw for more capicity. But for the price this saw is great and is built rock solid. I love it!! PS> My opinion: dont was your money on the laser guide.. its just a gimick.

I haven’t used this saw yet so I can’t comment on that part, but I can offer what I have observed about it.
As mentioned in other reviews of this saw and it’s cousin the C10FCH, the bevel scale is a sticker. When I pulled the saw out of the box, the sticker wasn’t fully attached to the plastic dust guard(guide) behind it. I pressed it back on all the way, only to see it has started to come free again a week later. It does appear that checking the bevel scale sticker frequently is going to be required with this saw or some other way used to secure the bevel scale.
Maybe some glue or screws/rivets can be used to secure the sticker better.
I will say that the bevel scale is easy to read as it is silver with black markings. A friend of mine’s DeWalt 705 miter saw which is a couple years old has the bevel scale molded into the plastic which eliminates stickers.
The red arrow indicator on the bevel scale at least does have some adjustment so if your bevel scale sticker did happen to fall off, you can rezero the pointer if you get the sticker back on fairly close to where it was before.
The miter scale in the front may be attached with glue or possibly a sticker, but it seems to be secured securely on my saw and it also has a rivet holding it at the zero indicator.
Another thing I have noticed is while there is no parts list included in the manual, you can visit the Hitachi power tools website and download a parts list as well as find a service center if needed. One thing about the warranty. The warranty card included with my saw indicates it only lasts for one year even though the box it came in and the Hitachi power tools website say that it should be 5 years. I called Hitachi, and customer service indicated that some of the saws didn’t get the proper warranty card, but it does have a five year warranty. Don’t just take my word for it though.
There is also some strange english(if that’s what you want to call it) used on the sticker of the sub fence assembly that says: “In the case of left bevel cutting, remove the fence. Supposing it is not able to remove it, it Will contact the blade or some part of the tool, causing in serious injury to operator.” Yes it is made in China. LOL
Anyway, I got a great deal on this saw. I haven’t used the saw yet so it may work great and these little details may not matter much, but I thought I’d give my initial observations on it so far for what it’s worth.

I got mine from #48, and used it to install baseboard in the basement and made a work bench. But with the little use I had, the bevel gauge started to peel off; and after reading some other reviews here and elsewhere, I got nervous and decided to return it while I still could. Noticed that the gauge on the floor model in the store was peeling as well; also on the Task Force model. Noticed that the $99 Shopmaster had a similar sticker, but it was attached with some sort of rivet. Dewalt had plastic etching.
Also, the dust did tend to pile up real fast. Bag attachment didn’t do much–maybe if you have dust collection it won’t be an issue at all. The laser seemed to be quite accurate, and in all honesty, I really liked the saw. Very easy set up and ready to go the day I got it, no problem. Included horizontal clamp, that the Dewalt makes you pay extra for, although if you have it on the right side, you need to make sure to leave clearance for the saw to move all the way down.. Also had the laser as I mentioned that is not on the Dewalt.
I guess I just wanted to avoid needing to replace the saw once the window for returns expired and am hoping the Dewalt will work as well, without some of the minor issues. Can I make it 3.5? Hard for me to give it a 4 since I did in fact, return it.
